Doggie Daycare is an excellent alternative to staying home alone while the family goes to work or school. It can be a great solution for a dog with separation anxiety, a youngster with tons of energy, or an older dog who needs special attention.
Daycare gives dogs an opportunity to release energy, be social, and have fun. It can also help with nuisance behaviors that result from boredom, unused energy, and limited social interaction.
At Preppy Pet, dogs are allowed to be dogs. They can explore playground toys and bounce around with their buddies in our climate-controlled indoor and outdoor play areas.
We discourage constant barking, rough or unsafe play, and jumping up. In each playgroup, we practice simple sits and coming when called by name. After a day of activity, most dogs are happy to settle in and snooze through the night at home.
After daycare, your dog will most likely go home hungry, thirsty, and tired. This is normal. Fresh water is always available, but many dogs are too busy playing to stop and drink as much as they should.
Because dogs in daycare often do not take breaks on their own, we schedule two-hour nap rotations in the middle of the day. These breaks give dogs time away from play and from each other, though they may still need extra sleep at home.
Daycare is similar to a contact sport for humans, except the participants play with teeth and paws. More active dogs may occasionally get scratches or other marks. A playgroup supervisor is always with the dogs, and we monitor each group to keep play as safe as possible.
If we notice anything, we will point it out to you. Since dogs are covered in hair, we may not see every small mark. If you find something concerning, please let us know. Some dogs may have tender paws until they adapt to the activity; if your dog has sensitive feet, tell us and we can limit their play time.
